My miracle hair growth secrets

I recently put a picture on Instagram showing just how much my hair had grown in the last year. I had quite a few people asking what I’d been doing so I thought I’d try something different blog wise and write about it!

Naturally, I’ve been blessed with decently long and thick hair (thanks mum and dad). My hair, however, was not made for the type of climate found in the UK. Between my sensitive skin and the rubbish weather, my hair became extremely damaged and just used to fall out.
I spend 3-6 months of the year with a weave (in the winter) so that when it’s cold and my hair is more likely to get damaged, my weave will protect my hair and leave it to naturally grow. I’ll then use an Olive Oil hair relaxer (chemical hair straightener) when I remove the hair which means I relax my hair 3-6 times a hair depending on how thick it is. I love Olive oil as it doesn’t burn my scalp! The hair relaxer can now be found in Tesco! It’s a bit too expensive though…

Step 1:
Mix 3 tablespoons of coconut oil to 1 tablespoon of honey (doesn’t matter what type you use) and rub onto hair as a max (as shown in the first top left picture). Leave for 30-60 minutes.
If the coconut oil is too hard, microwave for 10 seconds.
The hair mask helps repair and moisturise all types of damaged hair. You can add it to wet or dry hair but I choose dry as its easier. I use this hair mask every 2-3 weeks.

Step 2:
Wash out with Head & Shoulders anti itch (or menthol) shampoo and finish off with the Head & Shoulders conditioner.
If I use any other shampoo my scalp goes super dry and I’ve also found the coconut oil washes out quickly with Head & Shoulders when compared to other types of shampoo.head and shoulders
Step 3:
Oil your scalp (after blow drying) with Doo Gro.
My scalp is naturally dried so I have to add oil. Doo Gro anti itch hair vitalizer is one of the only products I’ve found that agrees with my scalp and doesn’t make it worse. It also keeps my actual hair looking shiny and healthy.

I’m lucky as I only wash my hair once a week or so but this whole process takes 2-3 hours! Totally worth it though.
