Visiting Dublin – Arkcon Properties

I recently went to Dublin on a PR stay for Arkcon Properties which has been running since 2005. I’ve been working with the owner of the business Garrett for a few months and we just hit it off. He’s in property, a “think outside the box” (in the best way possible) kind of person and all around just a generally nice and humble guy. You wouldn’t believe his property portfolio but the one thing that’s always stood out to me is his attention to detail. A lot of landlords get a bad rep but Garrett is someone who genuinely cares and you can see that in the finishing of his homes.

This was my 3rd or 4th visit to Dublin but this time there was a pandemic so I couldn’t really venture out too far. In terms of location, I couldn’t have stayed anywhere better. The area is beautiful and is surrounded by everything you could need from shops to restaurants and transport – it was also literally a 7-minute walk into Dublin centre. Mind you, I’m a slow walker…

Stable Lane

The flat I stayed in is a 2 double bedroom apartment with a living room diner, kitchen and a bath with a shower. The bathroom was beautiful but the highlight for me was the mirror which had a de-mister and lights that looked like a vanity mirror. Clearly, I’m easily pleased! There’s also a little seating area outside for your morning cuppa or if you just want to chill.

The flat itself was very clean. Clean enough for me to walk around barefoot! Again, anyone that knows me knows how particular I am when it comes to cleaning… Stable Lane reminded me soooo much of my first apartment in Sheffield in terms of layout. Most student/professional lets feel like they’ve tried to pack everything into a small space but this didn’t feel like that. Every room was surprisingly spacious and the wardrobes were a great size too. They were free-standing, but they went across the wall in each bedroom.

Right outside the flat, there’s a tramline which takes you straight into town but as I said, it’s also a quick walk. The tram is handy for getting you into most parts of Dublin so you don’t really need to worry about driving when that’s so convenient.

There seemed to be mixed for students and young professionals around the flat. The neighbours were friendly too. I got talking to one in particular who was your typical bubbly Irish man and he actually helped us get into the flat.

A few minutes around the corner you’ll find local shops and restaurants. There are lots to choose from but we smelled a BBQ and of course, our noses led us right to Skewers. Anyone that knows me knows mine and my families love for BBQ’s so this was quite ironic. The food didn’t disappoint. By the time we ate, I was so hungry and the food was so nice I didn’t even manage to get a good picture.

Not too far from Skewers was a bakery with the most beautiful coconut sponge. It was so nice I ended up making dad one for his birthday – it went down a treat.

It was a beautiful weekend so of course, I wandered the streets taking pictures for content and generally just enjoyed the weather. We walked into town and ironically found a café across from the first place I ever dined at in Dublin (Toddys) which was with my mum five years ago to the day as I write this – that was the summer I moved from Sheffield to Belfast. It was beautifully nostalgic. I had a cheese toastie, an iced coffee and enjoyed people watching whilst reminiscing on the last five years.

Although I was only in Dublin for the night, I had such a great trip. It felt like old times when you could travel, enjoy sightseeing and actually be around other people.

If you’re looking for somewhere to rent or for someone to manage your property in Dublin, you couldn’t ask for a better team. I’ll link all of Arkcon and Garretts details below:
